A magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred 32.8 km south, southeast of Herat center at 8:06 am on Sunday, Afghanistan Time, USGS said.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization said on X account that more than 120 injured have been brought to Herat Regional Hospital and many more have been taken to other hospitals in the city.
WHO reported the earthquake had a 6.4 magnitude.
Herat has seen waves of earthquakes within the past two weeks. More than 2,400 people were killed and over 2,000 others were injured in the earthquake that targeted the Zindajan district of the province on October 7.
At least 140 others were injured in another earthquake that happened on October 11.
According to USGS, in addition to the first earthquake, a magnitude 5.4 earthquake happened 27 km north of Herat city at 8:28 am, another earthquake of 4.1 magnitude happened in the Hundu Kush area at 9:40 am, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude occurred at 10:11 am 50 km south southeast of Herat center, at 10:39 am an earthquake with magnitude 4.2 occurred 23 km north of Herat city.
