Jamila al-Shanti, the widow of Hamas co-founder Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi and the first woman elected to the Hamas, was killed in an Israeli airstrike, The Times of Israel reported citing Hamas-affiliated media in Gaza.
The unsubstantiated reports however give no details on the location of the strike, saying only that it occurred at dawn. Back in 2021, Al-Shanti became the first woman elected to the Hamas political bureau, its highest decision-making body. Rantisi was killed in 2004 by an Israeli airstrike during the Second Intifada.
