The deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, has also been appointed the chairman of the National Council of Standards, based on a decree of the Islamic Emirate’s Supreme leader, the office of the deputy PM.
According to the deputy PM’s office, the establishment of this council was ordered by the Prime Minister under “Order 2083” and Mullah Baradar has been appointed as its chairman beside his other responsibilities.
“The National Council of Standards plays a crucial role in approving strategies and overarching policies for the National Standards Authority. Its scope encompasses the regulation of substandard goods entering the country, as well as the oversight of non-standard and arbitrary construction activities within the nation,” the office said.
The Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, announced some reshuffles made in the government.
According to him, Abdul Rahman Kunduzi was appointed governor of Helmand; Abdul Ahad Talib was appointed as commander of the special guards of Islamic Emirate’s leader Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada.
The analysts meanwhile stressed the need for the appointment of professional people to posts.
“If professionalism is considered, this will be a great issue. Work should be given to those who deserve it,” said Shir Aqa Rohani, political analyst.
“The National Standard Authority is a professional department; it should have been given to a professional person who had experience in this field,” said Nazukmir Ziarmal, economist.
The permanent members of this council include deputy ministers from several key ministries, such as Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Higher Education, Urban Development & Housing, Public Works, Public Health, Industry and Commerce, Communications and Information Technology, Mines and Petroleum, Transport and Aviation, and Finance. Additionally, it includes the Chief Executive of the National Environmental Protection Agency, Chief Executive of the Academy of Science, the Kabul Mayor, the Deputy General Directorate of Municipalities, and members of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment and Mines and Industries.
