Kabul – Watan Radio Television – August 2, 2025
Afghan national businessman Mr. Mirwais Azizi has announced a major economic investment in the country’s energy sector. During the contract signing ceremony organized by the Ministry of Water and Energy, Mr. Azizi stated that projects worth $10 billion will be implemented to produce 10,000 megawatts of electricity.
The Hope for Sustainable Electricity Draws Closer to Reality
In his remarks, Mirwais Azizi said:
“With the completion of these projects, all of Afghanistan will benefit from 24-hour uninterrupted electricity. Thousands of citizens will gain employment opportunities, domestic revenues will increase, and the agriculture and industry sectors will experience growth.”
He added that his only goal is to strengthen the Afghan people’s competitiveness—not to seek political gains or privileges. Azizi emphasized that this investment is deeply tied to the country’s economic independence, development, and production.
Government Support Promised
Acting Minister of Water and Energy, Mr. Abdul Latif Mansoor, also participated in the ceremony. He stated that Afghanistan has extensive resources for electricity generation, but those resources require proper management, investment, and cooperation.
“We are ready to fully cooperate with both national and international investors. These projects not only have economic value, but also represent a concrete step toward our energy self-sufficiency.”
Economic and Social Impact
This major project will largely fulfill the country’s electricity needs, reduce imports, and transform Afghanistan from an electricity importer into an exporter. Additionally, it is considered a key element in creating jobs, increasing agricultural production, and fostering the growth of domestic industry.
Watan Radio Television pledges to highlight such positive, strategic, and national investments and supports all Afghan entrepreneurs who take constructive steps toward the country’s development.
