In line with the government’s ongoing process of accountability, a few days ago, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation shared its one-year work report with the nation. This report offers a brief yet comprehensive overview of the services provided, challenges faced, progress made, and international engagements undertaken by the Ministry.

Key Points:

🔸 In the past three months, 1.2 million Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported from Iran, 1.8 million from Pakistan, and 5,134 from Turkey.
🔸 Based on the supreme decree of the Amir al-Mu’minin (Leader of the Faithful), 38 residential townships have been planned for returnees in 29 provinces — some have been implemented, while others are on the verge of execution.
🔸 In coordination with the Ministry of Education, educational opportunities have been provided for 20,000 students.
🔸 A system for delivering emergency services to refugees has been activated through 12 committees, covering food, healthcare, transportation, shelter, and legal support.
🔸 ۷۰ million yen in aid has been received from China, including tents, vehicles, and other equipment.


Other Important Developments:

  • ۹,۹۵۱ Afghan prisoners have been repatriated from Pakistan, Iran, and other countries.
  • ۱۲۵ memoranda of understanding (MoUs) have been signed with host countries to address Afghan refugee issues.
  • Nearly 90,000 families have been identified for land allocation.
  • ۴,۲۱۶ shelters have been constructed for the internally displaced and returnees.
  • To promote economic empowerment, 421,000 families have been provided access to vocational training and employment opportunities.
  • Due to natural disasters, 13,586 families have been displaced and received urgent assistance.
  • ۴۹ development projects have been implemented in 11 provinces, with an estimated value exceeding 1.1 billion Afghanis and 4.4 million USD.

In the Realm of Legal, Political, and International Relations:

The Ministry has held numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings with host countries, facilitating the extension of passports, visas, residency permits, and other documentation. Refugee councils have also been activated. Additionally, concrete steps have been taken to identify, recruit, and incentivize skilled professionals.
