The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) started a four-year project in eastern Afghanistan with the financial cooperation of 9.5 million dollars from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The aim of this project is to increase irrigated land, strengthen local agricultural production and improve food security in Kunar province.
