Thousands of residents of Chaman in Spin Boldak crossing marched today for not having permission to commute from this crossing.
They said that Pakistan’s decision requiring a passport to commute is not acceptable.
Residents have been stuck in the Spin Boldak crossing for more than a week.
The Information Minister of Balochistan also said that the decision was made in the wake of increased security threats from Afghanistan; but the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate refused the claim.
Jan Achakzai, Balochistan’s Information Minister, claimed that from the start of the year till now, the Afghan citizens were involved in 14 security incidents in Pakistan.
“The Spin Boldak route is now a threat to Pakistan, because up to 15,000 people are going back and forth every day. No one has written on their foreheads who is a good person or who is a terrorist. I regret to say that there have been 20 suicide attacks since the beginning of 2023, with 14 attackers having direct links to our neighbouring Afghanistan,” he said.
But Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, in a discussion with TOLOnews tv rejected the claim of Balochistan’s Information Minister and said that the insecurity of Pakistan is an internal issue.
“We reject this claim, those Afghans who live in Pakistan are civilians and they are not part of any security issue,” said Zabihullah Mujahid.
Previously, every day thousands of residents of Afghanistan were traveling to Pakistan with their national identity card, but after the 10th of October 2023, only those people are able to commute who hold a visa and passport.
