Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that the “Taliban” buy Western weapons sent to Ukraine.
TASS reported that Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the new members of the Russian Public Chamber, that these weapons are sent to other places through the Islamic Emirate.
“They say now – weapons from Ukraine are popping up in the Middle East. Of course they are, because they sell them,” he said, adding that Ukraine also sells weapons to the Taliban (outlawed in Russia). And, from there, [the weapons] spread anywhere, Putin said.
However, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, rejects the Russian president’s claim.
“We reject this claim, it is not true. Weapons are not brought to Afghanistan nor are they sent from Afghanistan to any other country. Weapons and equipment which have been left to the Islamic Emirate after the victory are all safe,” Mujahid added.
However, some experts believe that there should be an investigation about this claim of the Russian president.
“This issue needs more investigation, when we have documents then we can comment on this issue. But it is clear that western weapons in Ukraine are being sold on a large scale to different buyers,” Asadullah Nadim, a military analyst told TOLOnews.
“Ukraine does not have a border nor good relations with Afghanistan. So, when something like this happens, the only possible way is from Russia through Central Asian countries and then to Afghanistan,” Sarwar Niazi, another military analyst told TOLOnews.
