Local officials say a passenger plane with 70 people on board has crashed in Kazakhstan.

According to Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry, initial reports indicate that 22 of the 30 survivors have been taken to hospital. Azerbaijan Airlines flight DA2-8243 was flying from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the Russian city of Grozny.

Video, verified by Reuters, shows the plane descending at high speed, its tires flat. Seconds after the plane attempted to land, large flames erupted.

The airline said the plane attempted an “emergency landing” about three kilometers (1.9 miles) from Aktau. According to the FlightRadar24 website, the plane took off from Baku at 03:55 GMT on Wednesday and crashed at around 06:28.
